Human Factors & Interface Design
We're Team Hollywoodian from Olin College's 2012 HFID class. Our project focuses on small groups of friends, who are separated by busy lives and often have trouble organizing social outings. Such groups may not know what activities are available to them and could use an external source for inspiration and motivation. Through our project, we hope to provide a social impetus that is both entertaining and unimposing.
Over the course of the class, we will document each phase of our design. They are listed in chronological order below for quick access:
To access the final version of our prototype, please download the Hot Potato APK file. You then have the following two options:
- Natively on your phone: If you have access to a phone that is currently running Android 4.0 or higher, you can simply download the .apk file on your phone. You’ll need to allow the installation of applications from unknown sources within the applications menu under settings.
- In an emulator: Alternatively, you can use a web-based emulator. You’ll need to create an account using your email address, but the service is entirely free. Once you’ve logged into the website, you can select Launch Emulators and then choose Launch An App With The Emulator. You’ll be asked to upload the .apk file referenced above and choose a screen size; 480x800 (240 dpi) seemed to work well for us.
